More jobs in Brampton’s aerospace sector with $11.4 billion federal investment

MP Maninder Sidhu successfully advocated for a $10.4 billion federal investment in aerospace, creating 3,000+ jobs. This includes a $1 billion investment in Brampton’s MDA Canadarm program, part of NASA’s Gateway project, which will bring more good paying jobs to Brampton.
MP Sidhu also recently met with Boeing to discuss the P-8 aircraft supply chain, supporting 550 Canadian companies and boosting Canada’s aerospace and defense sector, driving economic growth in Brampton and beyond.
$38 million for Riverwalk flood mitigation will unlock 3.6 million square feet of space, supporting 20,000+ new jobs and driving new industry growth to Brampton

Flood protection is vital for Brampton’s infrastructure, and MP Maninder Sidhu secured $38 million in federal funding through the Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund (DMAF). This investment will not only safeguard the city from future flooding but also create 20,000 jobs, attract new industries, and generate over $1 billion in economic activity.
Brampton is receiving $114 million to help unlock and build 24,000 new homes by supporting the development of vital housing infrastructure

MP Maninder Sidhu successfully secured $114 million through the Canada Housing Infrastructure and Housing Accelerator Fund to support housing construction in Brampton. This investment will help build vital infrastructure, enabling the development of over 24,000 new homes in the city.
A $108.5 million federal investment into the new National Food Program will provide 160,000 healthy meals for school children in Brampton and beyond

- new Claireville North Multi-Use Trail connected to Claireville Conservation Area

$176 million in federal funding to the Ontario government to purchase 5 new police helicopters to combat crime and auto theft

Keeping Brampton’s communities safe is a top priority, and MP Maninder Sidhu has secured $176 million in federal funding to combat guns, gangs, and auto theft, allocated to the Ontario government to support local law enforcement.
Additionally, MP Sidhu helped secure:
- $28 million to enhance the Canada Border Services Agency’s ability to detect stolen vehicles
- $3.5 million for a mobile container X-ray scanner, now used in Brampton East to fight auto theft
MP Sidhu also successfully advocated for:
- strengthening the criminal code through Bill C48, giving judges more tools to keep violent offenders in jail
- increased sentences for auto theft-related crimes, rising from 10 to 14 years
Despite progress, more must be done. MP Sidhu will continue calling on the Ontario government to address overcrowded provincial jails, which have led to the release of violent offenders and case withdrawals due to lack of resources in provincial courts.
MP Maninder Sidhu continues to support young Canadians by securing over $5 million in federal funding to create over 1,000+ jobs for youth across our community

MP Maninder Sidhu has been a strong advocate for young Canadians, securing over $1 million through the Canada Summer Jobs Program over the past 5 years. This funding has created 1,000+ jobs, helping youth gain valuable experience and earn an income.
MP Sidhu has been a strong advocate for making education more affordable. For the first time, Canada Student Loans are now interest-free, and Canada Student Grants have increased to $4,200 per year.
Additionally, the federal government is investing $2.6 billion in healthcare, clean technology, and AI, creating job opportunities and preparing young Canadians for future industries.
MP Sidhu also helped launch a new $500 million Youth Mental Health Fund, ensuring young Canadians in Brampton and across the country have access to the support they need.
Honda Canada Opening 4 New Plants

I was proud to advocate alongside federal colleagues to secure Japanese Honda’s largest investment in the history of their company. Roughly 40 kilometers north of Brampton East, Honda will invest $15 billion to create new production plants which will create thousands of good paying jobs to build electric vehicles. These new assembly plants will produce up to 24,000 vehicles every year!
MDA Space Creating Over 500 Engineering Jobs in Brampton

Proud to secure a federal investment from the Canadian Space Agency which will help MDA Space build the Canadaarm3, right here in Brampton, for the International Space Station! This funding and new project means MDA Space will add hundreds of new good paying engineering jobs for Brampton residents!
Japanese Asahi Kesai’s 1500+ New Jobs At New Electric Battery Plant

Asahi Kesai Corporation is investing approximately $1.6 billion in Canada to build an EV battery separator plant in Ontario. This investment will create more than 1,500 new clean energy jobs and will help boost our economy. With our government’s commitment to clean energy, we have transformed Canada’s EV battery supply chain. As a result, companies across the globe are investing in Canada – making Canada # 1 in the world for global EV battery supply chain ranked by Bloomberg!
MP Sidhu secures a $3.5M mobile container X-ray scanner for the Brampton East intermodal terminal

This technology has greatly increased the examination of containers in the GTA to inspect and intercept stolen vehicles.

The Canada Child Benefit (CCB) provides more money, tax free, to millions of families each year. The CCB has been annually indexed since 2018 as the cost-of-living increases, so does the benefit.

We are investing in providing children healthy meals

Our government’s focus in Budget 2024 is fairness for every generation. We have been committed to creating opportunities to help young Canadians succeed because we understand our youth are the future leaders of tomorrow. We have invested $1 billion to ensure 400,000 children have healthy meals at school because when children cannot get enough food, it impacts their health and their opportunities to learn and grow.
$10-a-day National Child Care Strategy

Families in Brampton East are already
saving over $8,000 a year in child care fees thanks to our federal child care initiative!
We are expanding the new Canada Dental Benefit Plan

- Over 250,000 seniors across Canada have already used this new benefit to access affordable dental care.
- Services like x-rays, cleanings, root canals, dentures, and many others are covered.
- This benefit provides support to Canadians so they have lower out of pocket costs, more savings, and better teeth.
Thousands of seniors in Brampton have already used our new federal
Canada Dental Benefit Plan saving them hundreds of dollars in dental fees!
So far, more than 2 million seniors have been approved for the Canada Dental Care Plan. Starting in June 2024, children under 18 and persons with disabilities can apply for the Canada Dental Care Plan!
While the federal Conservative Party continues to oppose this dental benefit by voting against it and some even talking about cancelling this important benefit – we know many seniors need this vital program for their overall health. We will continue moving forward to support more Canadians.
Introducing the New Youth Mental Health Fund

MP Maninder Sidhu hears directly from youth in Brampton East of the need for more mental health supports and our federal government is taking action. Through Budget 2024, our government is investing $500 million over five years to create the new Youth Mental Health Fund. This new measure will help younger Canadians access the mental health care they need.
The new Youth Mental Health Fund will:
- provide more care for young Canadians through Community health organizations
- better equip these organizations to refer youth to other mental health services within their networks and partnerships
- provide on and off campus support to students and youth who are not in school
Empowering Young Entrepreneurs

With an investment of $60 million over five years for Futurpreneur Canada. Furturpreneur is a national not-for-profit organization that provides young entrepreneurs with access to financing, mentorship, and other business supports to help them launch and grow their business. By 2029, Futurpreneur Canada estimates this investment will enable an estimated 6,250 additional businesses owned by young Canadians to launch and scale-up their businesses.
Taking action against guns, gangs, and auto theft

In Ontario, vehicle theft is on the rise, and it is affecting far too many Canadians. Police forces across all jurisdictions are continuing to collaborate to tackle this challenge.
We are supporting their critical work through investments like:
- $121 million to the Government of Ontario through the Initiative to take Action Against Guns and Gang Violence, which the province will provide to local law enforcement
- an additional $55 million to the Government of Ontario through the Gun and Gang Violence Action Fund to better tackle auto theft
- $28 million to support the work of CBSA and intercept the export of stolen vehicles
- $15 million to support police collaboration to combat auto theft across jurisdictions and internationally
$28 million for the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to enhance their ability to detect and search containers for stolen vehicles at the port of Montreal and throughout our supply chain

CBSA provides critical support to law enforcement partners to disrupt, investigate, and ultimately prosecute crimes. Overall, upfront, preventative, and investigative work ahead of reaching the border is imperative to reduce auto theft. The CBSA acts on referrals from local police and works closely with governments and jurisdictions to intercept stolen vehicles and identify criminal activity within the supply chain.
Our government is increasing the capacity of the CBSA by investing $28 million to conduct more investigations and examinations of containers to intercept stolen vehicles, as well as enhancing collaboration on investigations and intelligence sharing with partners across Canada and internationally. This includes detection technology solutions, and exploring the use of advanced analytical tools, such as artificial intelligence.
$176 million to the Province of Ontario to support local law enforcement with additional resources

Our federal government announced $121 million in funding to the Province of Ontario through the Combating Guns and Gangs program to assist in stopping gun and gang violence.
Recently, our federal government allocated an additional $55 million to the Province of Ontario to better triage for key forensic technology and tackle auto theft.
This brings the total federal funding amount the Province of Ontario has received to combat guns, gangs, and auto theft to $176 million.
Keeping Canadians safe is our top priority and we will continue to work with leaders across all jurisdictions to combat serious and organized crime, and reduce gun violence and auto theft.
Strengthening The Criminal Code

We are strengthening our criminal code to help ensure repeat violent offenders stay behind bars. After consultations with all 13 Premiers and Police Chiefs across Canada, our federal government has brought forward bail provisions. Bill C-48 will help keep repeat violent offenders behind bars. These new provisions have now gone into effect as of January 4, 2024.
Key Changes:
- created a new reverse onus for repeat violent offenders involving weapons
- expanded the list of firearms offences that trigger a reverse onus
- broadened the existing reverse onus regime for victims of intimate partner violence
- clarify the meaning of the term “prohibition order” in an existing reverse onus for offences involving weapons
- require courts to consider an accused person’s history of convictions for violence and the safety of the community when making any bail decision
Supercharging Housing Supply

We’re going to build homes at a scale and pace not seen since World War Two. All levels of government, home builders, non-profits, and communities working together to build the homes we need.
Our plan will:
- build 3.87 million new homes in the next 7 years
- provide $114 million to the City of Brampton through our federal Housing Accelerator fund to eliminate red tape and build the housing we need faster
